This section of the site is dedicated to increasing public awareness of the nature and scope of the Rubber Stamp Industry.

Rubber stamps can be broken into three basic categories, according to the method of delivery used by the stamp in transferring ink on to the page. These three categories are:

HAND STAMP

The hand stamp is usually what the consumer is most familiar with. To the layman, the term "rubber stamp", instantly conjures the image of a hand held implement with a rubber relief that must first be pressed on to a separate ink pad before being applied to the surface. This is what is known as a hand stamp.

In essence, the definition of a hand stamp is one in which the stamping implement is a separate object to the stamp pad.

Hand stamps come in many forms: vue stamps, wood stamps, automatic numberers, band stamps, common seals, and rockers. For the most part art stamps are hand stamps.

SELF INKING STAMP

The self inking stamp is the next most common kind of stamp. With a self inking stamp, instead of having to use a separate ink pad; the pad is built in to the stamp. As you press the stamp to the page, the stamp face is pressed against an internal stamp pad, then against the page.

This form of stamp is very popular as it reduces the hassle and mess associated with using a rubber stamp.

Self inking stamps come in many forms: straight text, automatic numberers & daters, die plate numberers & daters and graphic stamps.

PRE INKED STAMP

The pre-inked stamp is the logical, scientific advancement on the self inking stamp. Whilst the self inking stamp eliminates the need for a separate ink pad, it still requires an internal pad. The pre-inked stamp does away for the need for a pad altogether, integrated or otherwise.

The pre-inked stamp is made of a special compound with ultra fine micro pores, much like a very fine sponge. These pores contain all the ink that the stamp will ever need: hence no stamp pad. These pre-inked stamps generally last for several thousand impressions, and can be easily re-inked for thousands more.

Generally, pre-inked stamps only come in the conventional text and graphic formats, but daters are available.
